Rare earth market update on January 16, 2026
This week, the domestic rare earth market overall showed a favorable trend, mainly reflected in obvious price increases for most products and increased actual transaction volume. In the light rare earth market, affected by tightening spot market supply, active downstream inquiries, and the upward adjustment of Northern Rare Earth's rare earth concentrate transaction price for the first quarter of this year, mainstream suppliers significantly raised quotations. In the medium and heavy rare earth market, the overall situation was one of "prices exist but no market". Although some medium and heavy rare earth product prices saw certain upward movements driven by the rise in praseodymium-neodymium prices, downstream users' willingness to accept goods remained low, with limited new orders.
According to CTIA GROUP LTD, this week praseodymium-neodymium oxide prices increased by approximately RMB 55,000/ton, up 8.73%; praseodymium-neodymium metal prices increased by approximately RMB 70,000/ton, up 9.15%; terbium oxide prices increased by approximately RMB 50,000/ton, up 0.79%; dysprosium oxide prices decreased by approximately RMB 50,000/ton, down 3.31%; 55N neodymium-iron-boron blank prices increased by approximately RMB 13/kg, up 4.76%; neodymium-iron-boron scrap (praseodymium-neodymium) prices increased by approximately RMB 35/kg, up 5.56%.
