Analysis of Latest Tungsten Market from Chinatungsten Online
This week, the tungsten market saw prices remain firm, fluctuating daily. Since the beginning of the year, prices of major tungsten raw materials have risen by over 10%, all surpassing key psychological levels. Tungsten concentrate, ammonium paratungstate, and tungsten powder prices have broken through the RMB 500,000, RMB 700,000, and RMB 1.2 million per ton marks, respectively!
The price increase is mainly driven by a tightening supply and demand balance and a bullish sentiment among holders who are reluctant to sell. Downstream companies producing cemented carbide tools, special steel, and tungsten electrodes are facing continued and significant cost increases, forcing them to adjust product prices again.
It is worth noting that with the approach of the Spring Festival holiday, although some pre-holiday stockpiling demand has provided a short-term boost to tungsten product prices, overall market liquidity is expected to gradually cool as the holiday atmosphere intensifies. In this environment, the tungsten scrap market, characterized by numerous small-scale traders and high sensitivity to price fluctuations, has reacted significantly. Recent profit-taking in the scrap tungsten market has led to a slight easing of scrap prices. However, the firm raw material prices continue to support the recycling market.
