Molybdenum market update on December 30, 2025
The domestic molybdenum market overall showed a relatively strong operation trend. Against the background of many steel enterprises still willing to enter the market to tender for ferromolybdenum and average spot market supply, suppliers generally held strong reluctance to sell while supporting prices. However, product prices did not show significant increases, mainly attributed to buyers basically maintaining rational consumption and limited boosting from bullish factors. Today, molybdenum concentrate, ferromolybdenum, and ammonium heptamolybdate prices increased by approximately RMB 10 per tonne-degree, RMB 1,000/ton, and RMB 1,000/ton respectively. After Christmas, international molybdenum prices overall showed a stable with slight increase trend, but due to some overseas enterprises not yet fully resuming work, market trading activity remained insufficient.
On the news front: Data from the National Bureau of Statistics show that from January to November 2025, profit situations of major industries nationwide were as follows: computer, communication, and other electronic equipment manufacturing industry profits increased by 15.0% year-on-year, electricity and heat production and supply industry increased by 11.8%, non-ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry increased by 11.1%, automobile manufacturing industry increased by 7.5%, agricultural and sideline food processing industry increased by 4.8%, general equipment manufacturing industry increased by 4.8%, special equipment manufacturing industry increased by 4.6%, electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing industry increased by 4.2%, petroleum, coal, and other fuel processing industry reduced losses year-on-year, non-metallic mineral products industry decreased by 4.6%, chemical raw materials and chemical products manufacturing industry decreased by 6.9%, textile industry decreased by 8.2%, petroleum and natural gas extraction industry decreased by 13.6%, coal mining and washing industry decreased by 47.3%.
