Molybdenum market update on December 25, 2025
The domestic molybdenum market overall maintained relatively strong operation. Driven by the continuous increase in ferromolybdenum prices in the previous two days, prices of other molybdenum products also achieved slight increases today, with molybdenum concentrate and ammonium heptamolybdate prices increased by approximately RMB 10 per tonne-degree and RMB 1,000/ton respectively.
From the bullish factors perspective, first, against the background of good development trend in molybdenum downstream industries, downstream demand remained steady; combined with rising steel tender prices, this further enhanced suppliers' motivation to raise prices; second, the recent slow warming in the international molybdenum market has to a certain extent boosted industry players' confidence in the future market; third, affected by the approaching New Year's holiday, some downstream and terminal customers showed increased initiative in stockpiling, exerting upward pressure on molybdenum product prices.
From the bearish factors perspective, first, as the end of the year approaches, the slight increase in current molybdenum product prices has triggered profit-taking sentiment among some suppliers, thus unfavorable for price increases; second, limited bullish support led to small increase amplitude in molybdenum product prices; third, due to tight liquidity for buyers and some downstream enterprises having already completed phased procurement plans in advance, market demand increment was low.
