Molybdenum market update on December 19, 2025
This week, domestic molybdenum prices overall showed a narrow-range oscillating trend. Except for ferromolybdenum prices slightly decreasing by 1.25%, prices of other molybdenum products such as molybdenum concentrate and sodium molybdate showed no obvious changes. Under this market condition, industry players have general confidence in the future market and generally expect the market to continue stable operation in the short term.
From the supply side, affected by higher energy prices, greater production difficulty coefficients, and declining mine grades, some molybdenum manufacturers have reduced output; combined with steady downstream demand, spot market supply growth has further slowed. Therefore, amid strong downstream price-pressing sentiment, many suppliers still hold strong reluctance to sell while supporting prices.
From the demand side, the good development trend of molybdenum downstream industries and current molybdenum product prices at relatively low levels have to a large extent increased downstream users' enthusiasm for entering the market to consume. However, affected by tight market liquidity and difficulty in significant short-term molybdenum price increases, some buyers remain relatively cautious in consumption.
