Rare earth market update on October 28, 2025
the domestic rare earth market overall showed a slight improvement, primarily reflected in most product prices halting their decline and rebounding, heightened enthusiasm among traders to enter the market, and increased transaction volumes. Today, the price of praseodymium-neodymium oxide increased by approximately RMB 10,000 per ton, praseodymium-neodymium metal by approximately RMB 7,000 per ton, and dysprosium-iron alloy by approximately RMB 20,000 per ton.
From the perspective of bullish factors, firstly, the previous significant price drop and proximity to the cost line have heightened suppliers' profit awareness, prompting them to raise quotes; secondly, influenced by stricter environmental enforcement, high energy prices, and low product selling prices, some rare earth mining and smelting enterprises have reduced output, which helps warm up the market; thirdly, the rapid development of downstream rare earth industries such as new energy vehicles, robotics, and smart appliances can, to some extent, increase demand for rare earth functional materials. From the perspective of bearish factors, the main issue is that downstream demand fell short of expectations during the "Golden September and Silver October" consumption peak season, making it difficult for product prices to rise.
In terms of news, Northern Rare Earth reported third-quarter 2025 revenue of RMB 11.425 billion, increased by 33.32% year-on-year; net profit attributable to shareholders of the parent company (NPASP) of RMB 610 million, increased by 69.48% year-on-year; non-recurring profit and loss-adjusted net profit of RMB 466 million, increased by 85.91% year-on-year; basic earnings per share of RMB 0.1688, increased by 69.48% year-on-year; and total assets at the end of the reporting period of RMB 47.715 billion, increased by 5.14% year-on-year.
