I. Analysis of China Molybdenum Price Trends for September 2025
According to CTIA GROUP LTD Online, molybdenum products price trend in China for September 2025 showed an initial rise followed by a decline, with the end-of-month prices for most products lower than those at the beginning of the month. At the beginning of the month, most product prices continued the upward trend from late August, primarily due to tight spot market supply at that time, oscillatory upward movement in international molybdenum prices, strong downstream demand, and optimistic market expectations for future trends. In September, the total volume of steel tendered ferromolybdenum was approximately 14,000 tons.
In mid-to-late September, influenced by continuously declining steel bidding prices and the gradual exhaustion of favorable factors, mainstream molybdenum product prices began to enter a downward channel, with ferromolybdenum prices decreasing by approximately 6.08% and molybdenum concentrate prices by approximately 3.90%. However, due to strong reluctance among raw material suppliers to sell while upholding prices and sustained high demand for molybdenum products, the price decline remained limited.
II. Average Prices of Molybdenum Products in September 2025
In September, the average prices of most molybdenum products in China increased both month-on-month and year-on-year. The average price of molybdenum concentrate was 4,517 yuan per ton-unit, increased by 3.65% month-on-month, increased by 21.07% year-on-year; the average price of ferromolybdenum was 287,348 yuan per ton, increased by 2.71% month-on-month, increased by 19.16% year-on-year; the average price of molybdenum oxide was 4,611 yuan per ton-unit, increased by 3.25% month-on-month, increased by 20.71% year-on-year; the average price of sodium molybdate was 201,826 yuan per ton, increased by 1.32% month-on-month, increased by 20.44% year-on-year; the average price of ammonium tetramolybdate was 271,696 yuan per ton, increased by 2.95% month-on-month, increased by 18.01% year-on-year; the average price of ammonium heptamolybdate was 275,696 yuan per ton, increased by 2.91% month-on-month, increased by 17.70% year-on-year; the average price of molybdenum powder was 510 yuan per kilogram, increased by 3.24% month-on-month, increased by 15.65% year-on-year; and the average price of molybdenum bars was 515 yuan per kilogram, increased by 3.62% month-on-month, increased by 10.04% year-on-year.
In the third quarter, the average prices of most molybdenum products in China increased both month-on-month and year-on-year. The average price of molybdenum concentrate was 4,288 yuan per ton-unit, increased by 19.64% month-on-month, increased by 15.86% year-on-year; the average price of ferromolybdenum was 273,940 yuan per ton, increased by 17.92% month-on-month, increased by 14.29% year-on-year; the average price of molybdenum oxide was 4,398 yuan per ton-unit, increased by 19.41% month-on-month, increased by 15.98% year-on-year; the average price of sodium molybdate was 193,791 yuan per ton, increased by 19.08% month-on-month, increased by 16.18% year-on-year; the average price of ammonium tetramolybdate was 259,403 yuan per ton, increased by 16.30% month-on-month, increased by 13.43% year-on-year; the average price of ammonium heptamolybdate was 263,463 yuan per ton, increased by 15.78% month-on-month, increased by 13.22% year-on-year; the average price of molybdenum powder was 484 yuan per kilogram, increased by 14.69% month-on-month, increased by 10.00% year-on-year; and the average price of molybdenum bars was 496 yuan per kilogram, increased by 8.53% month-on-month, increased by 5.76% year-on-year.
From January to September, the prices of most molybdenum products in China increased year-on-year. The average price of molybdenum concentrate was 3,818 yuan per ton-unit, increased by 6.62% year-on-year; the average price of ferromolybdenum was 246,076 yuan per ton, increased by 5.22% year-on-year; the average price of molybdenum oxide was 3,923 yuan per ton-unit, increased by 6.75% year-on-year; the average price of sodium molybdate was 173,870 yuan per ton, increased by 4.80% year-on-year; the average price of ammonium tetramolybdate was 235,892 yuan per ton, increased by 4.54% year-on-year; the average price of ammonium heptamolybdate was 240,011 yuan per ton, increased by 4.63% year-on-year; the average price of molybdenum powder was 443 yuan per kilogram, increased by 0.68% year-on-year; and the average price of molybdenum bars was 471 yuan per kilogram, increased by 0.64% year-on-year.
