Rare earth market update on August 6, 2025
The overall domestic rare earth market continues to exhibit a sideways consolidation trend, with limited willingness among suppliers to lower prices and downstream demand falling short of expectations, resulting in no significant changes in the prices of mainstream products. Currently, the prices of neodymium oxide, erbium oxide, and dysprosium oxide are approximately 539,000 yuan per ton, 327,000 yuan per ton, and 1,650,000 yuan per ton, respectively.
From the supply side, firstly, the operating rates of some rare earth mining, smelting enterprises, and waste recycling companies have increased, driving further growth in the supply of praseodymium-neodymium products. Secondly, due to frequent high-temperature rainfall and intensified environmental enforcement, the output of some rare earth manufacturers has been reduced. From the demand side, firstly, the current period marks the peak consumption season for rare earth permanent magnet materials, with magnetic material companies showing high enthusiasm for inquiries and procurement. Secondly, given the current high rare earth prices, some downstream rare earth companies exhibit reluctance toward high-priced goods. Thirdly, with the rapid development of industries such as robotics, new energy vehicles, and smart appliances, the future demand for rare earth materials is expected to increase.
In terms of news, according to the Inner Mongolia Daily, the Rare Earth New Material Technology Innovation Center has reported that China’s first rare earth disc motor intelligent demonstration line has been completed and put into operation at the center. Its first mature product—a rare earth permanent magnet axial flux motor with a thickness of only 6 millimeters—has stunned the industry with its breakthrough performance indicators.
