Rare Earth Market – July 18, 2025

Rare earth market update on July 18, 2025

This week, the domestic rare earth market performed relatively well, with light and heavy rare earth product prices showing divergent trends under the interplay of bullish and bearish factors, though overall market transaction activity still has room for improvement. In the light rare earth market, multiple factors have recently driven a warming of market sentiment: China Northern Rare Earth’s praseodymium-neodymium metal transaction prices have been steadily rising, with its Q3 2025 rare earth concentrate transaction price increasing by 1.51% quarter-on-quarter; meanwhile, inquiry activity from magnetic material companies has been moderate. As a result, supplier quotations have generally been raised. In the medium and heavy rare earth market, product prices have been fluctuating within a reasonable range due to limited downstream consumer demand and constrained increases in spot supply.

According to CTIA GROUP LTD, this week, praseodymium-neodymium oxideUK0.5% oxide price increased by approximately 26,000 yuan per ton, a rise of 5.73%; praseodymium-neodymium metal price increased by about 27,000 yuan per ton, a rise of 4.84%; terbium oxide price showed no significant change; dysprosium oxide price increased by about 20,000 yuan per ton, a rise of 1.19%; 55N neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) blank price increased by about 5 yuan per kilogram, a rise of 2.31%; and neodymium-iron-boron (praseodymium-neodymium) scrap price increased by about 23 yuan per kilogram, a rise of 4.61%. It is evident that praseodymium-neodymium raw material prices saw significant increases this week, and against this backdrop, the prices of rare earth permanent magnet materials and their scrap also rose.

According to information from the Baotou Rare Earth Products Exchange, on July 17, 2025, China Northern Rare Earth conducted an online competitive bidding transaction for praseodymium-neodymium metal, with the transaction result: praseodymium-neodymium metal transacted at 572,000 yuan per ton for 100 tons. Notably, the transaction price for praseodymium-neodymium metal on July 17 was higher than on July 16, when the transaction prices were 568,000 yuan per ton and 567,500 yuan per ton.
