Rare earth market update on May 23, 2025
This week, the domestic rare earth market has shown a generally weak performance, characterized by low enthusiasm from traders entering the market, combined with declining prices for most products and limited new orders. According to CTIA GROUP LTD, although rare earth prices have recently fallen, they remain at a relatively high level compared to late April. With stagnant downstream demand and tightening financial conditions, suppliers are generally inclined to take profits. However, due to strong production cost support and ongoing tightness in overseas rare earth supply, the downward adjustment space for domestic prices is limited.
According to CTIA GROUP LTD, this week, praseodymium-neodymium oxide prices decreased by approximately 6,000 yuan/ton, a decline of 1.38%; praseodymium-neodymium metal prices decreased by about 7,000 yuan/ton, a decline of 1.31%; terbium oxide prices decreased by about 210 yuan/kg, a decline of 2.89%; dysprosium oxide prices decreased by about 20,000 yuan/kg, a decline of 1.20%; 55N neodymium-iron-boron blanks decreased by about 1 yuan/kg, a decline of 0.48%; and neodymium-iron-boron scrap (praseodymium-neodymium) decreased by about 6 yuan/kg, a decline of 1.28%.
According to the Jiangxi Development and Reform Commission website, in April 2025, the average selling prices in Ganzhou were 210,000 yuan/ton for high-yttrium oxide (rare earth) and 186,000 yuan/ton for medium-yttrium europium oxide (rare earth), with month-on-month increases of 2.44% and no change, respectively, and year-on-year changes of no change and an increase of 4.49%, respectively. The average selling price for tungsten concentrate was 143,000 yuan/ton, increased by 2.14% month-on-month and increased by 10.85% year-on-year.
