Rare earth market update on April 16, 2025
The domestic rare earth price is generally consolidating within the rising range. In the situation where the supply-demand relationship is relatively balanced and there are no major positive news released in the market, the market trading enthusiasm is low and the trading volume is small. Today, the prices of praseodymium oxide, gadolinium oxide and dysprosium oxide are approximately 458,000 yuan per ton, 170,000 yuan per ton and 1,700,000 yuan per ton respectively.
In the light rare earth market, affected by the strong support of production costs and the fact that magnetic materials enterprises basically maintain rigid demand, the prices of mainstream products have stopped falling and stabilized. In the medium and heavy rare earth market, although the spot supply of some products in the market is still tight, causing suppliers to have a strong sentiment of reluctant to sell and maintain prices, due to the obvious price increase of products such as dysprosium and terbium recently, the inquiries from downstream users have decreased.
Data from the National Bureau of Statistics show that in March 2025, the added value of industrial enterprises above a designated size actually increased by 7.7% year-on-year and by 0.44% month-on-month. By industry, the manufacturing of chemical raw materials and chemical products increased by 8.8% year-on-year, the manufacturing of non-metallic mineral products increased by 0.9% year-on-year, the smelting and rolling of ferrous metals increased by 7.7% year-on-year, the smelting and rolling of non-ferrous metals increased by 6.5% year-on-year, the manufacturing of general-purpose machinery increased by 9.3% year-on-year, the manufacturing of special-purpose machinery increased by 4.7% year-on-year, the automobile manufacturing industry increased by 11.5% year-on-year, the manufacturing of railway, ship, aerospace and other transportation equipment increased by 19.0% year-on-year, and the production and supply of electric power and heat power increased by 3.3% year-on-year.
