Molybdenum market update on March 24, 2025
At the beginning of the week, the overall domestic molybdenum market improved slightly, mainly reflected in the rebound of product prices and the increase in the enthusiasm of downstream users to inquire and purchase. Today, the prices of molybdenum concentrate, ferromolybdenum and molybdenum powder are consolidated at around 3,330 yuan/ton, 218,000 yuan/ton and 400 yuan/kg respectively. Recently, the steel companies that have bid for ferromolybdenum include Huaigang Special Steel, Northeast Special Steel, Dongfang Special Steel, Shandong Steel Laiwu, Shandong Steel Rizhao, etc. At present, the industry focuses on the trend of steel bidding volume and price and the shipment dynamics of molybdenum mining enterprises.
According to the data of the National Bureau of Statistics, in January-February 2025, industrial enterprises above designated size achieved a total export delivery value of 2275.1 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.2%, and the growth rate was 1.1 percentage points faster than the whole year of the previous year. From the industry perspective, in January and February, among the 39 major industries with exports, the export delivery value of 25 industries increased year-on-year, accounting for 64.1%; among them, the export delivery value of the railway, shipbuilding, aerospace, metal products, general equipment and other industries increased by double digits, with growth rates of 20.0%, 11.7% and 10.1% respectively.
