Rare earth market update on January 13, 2026
The domestic rare earth market overall showed a mixed pattern of rises and falls, with praseodymium-neodymium oxide price increased by approximately RMB 12,000/ton, praseodymium-neodymium metal price increased by approximately RMB 15,000/ton, holmium oxide price increased by approximately RMB 7,000/ton, and dysprosium oxide price decreased by approximately RMB 20,000/ton. Driven by the recent oscillating upward movement in praseodymium-neodymium raw material prices, prices of rare earth permanent magnet materials and their scrap also rose to some extent, with 52M neodymium-iron-boron blank block prices increased by approximately RMB 1/kg and neodymium-iron-boron scrap (praseodymium-neodymium) prices increased by approximately RMB 5/kg.
According to CTIA GROUP LTD, factors such as increased downstream inquiry activity, relatively strong production cost support, Northern Rare Earth's rare earth concentrate transaction price for the first quarter of 2026 increased by more than 2% month-on-month, and the rapid development of emerging industries have all enhanced suppliers' motivation to raise prices to a certain extent.
On the news front, according to the official website of the Jiangxi Provincial Development and Reform Commission, in 2025 the average sales prices per ton of high-yttrium oxide (rare earth) and medium-yttrium europium oxide (rare earth) in Ganzhou were RMB 202,800 and RMB 185,400 respectively, decreased by 0.33% year-on-year for high-yttrium oxide and increased by 7.90% year-on-year for medium-yttrium europium oxide. Among them, in December the average sales prices per ton of high-yttrium oxide (rare earth) and medium-yttrium europium oxide (rare earth) in Ganzhou were RMB 180,000 and RMB 180,000 respectively, decreased by 4.26% and 3.23% month-on-month, and decreased by 4.26% year-on-year for high-yttrium oxide while increased by 7.14% year-on-year for medium-yttrium europium oxide.
