Rare earth market update on December 16, 2025
Domestic rare earth prices were partially stable with minor individual adjustments. Among them, the price of terbium oxide decreased by approximately RMB 20,000 per ton, while the price of erbium oxide increased by approximately RMB 4,000 per ton. According to CTIA GROUP LTD, against the backdrop of downstream users largely maintaining rigid demand procurement and suppliers having low willingness to reduce prices for shipments, market trading sentiment remained relatively weak, with few new orders added. Some industry participants anticipate that the market may continue to operate in a weak and stable manner in the near future.
On the supply side, factors such as low downstream buying interest, high production costs, increasingly stringent environmental policies, and gradually declining temperatures have led to a slowdown in production pace for some rare earth mining and smelting enterprises. Additionally, limited imports of rare earth products from overseas have further slowed the growth rate of spot market supply. On the demand side, in the short term, influenced by a high volume of long-term agreements and tight capital conditions among downstream enterprises, market transaction volumes remain low. However, in the long run, the rare earth market is still expected to perform favorably, primarily due to the promising development prospects of downstream industries such as new energy, robotics, and smart home appliances.
Regarding news, information from the Jiangxi Provincial Development and Reform Commission website shows that in November 2025, the average sales prices per ton of Ganzhou high-yttrium oxide (rare earth) and medium-yttrium europium oxide (rare earth) were RMB 188,000 and RMB 186,000, respectively. These figures decreased by 8.29% and slightly decreased by 2.11% month-on-month, respectively, while year-on-year, they decreased by 4.57% and increased by 8.14%, respectively. In November, the average sales price per ton of Ganzhou tungsten concentrate was RMB 314,000, representing an increase of 18.05% month-on-month and an increase of 121.13% year-on-year.
